well done nai! your character is turning out great! i love her drunk scenes.
goof, you’ve got to work on stephen. he acts like you on the outside but you’ve got to develop the sensitiveness and troubles of stephen, a couple of things in which he is different to you.
kim, i was wondering if you could get me numbers and sizes of tables and things needed. like tablecloths, cutley, glasses, etc. it would be a great help. thanx.
elise, i talked to my hairdresser and worked out some ways to hide the red in my hair.
to those who weren’t there yesterday, we are meeting same place, same time on friday the 13th (last day of holidays). see you all then.

more about dympie

i was talking to someone about dympie and she suggested that dympie sounded like she had a borderline personality disorder. so i researched BPD and this is some of what i found on a great website (www.bpdcentral.com).

BPDs:
- alternate between seeing people as either entirely good or evil
- alternate between seeing people as completely for or against them
- believe that others are are responsible for their actions or take too much responsibility for the actions of others
- seem unwilling to admit to a mistake or feel that everything that they do is a mistake
- feel abandoned at the slightest provocation
- have extreme moodiness that cycles very quickly
- feel emotions so intensly that it’s difficult to put others eeds ahead of their own
- feel distrustful and suspicious a great deal of the time
- change their expectations in such a way that the other person feels they can never do anything right
- verbally abuse others, criticizing and blaming them to the point where it feels brutal
- act in what seems like extreme or controlling ways to get their own needs met
and tons more.

sound like anyone?

Dympie’s history: piece #1

thanks guys for your comments. Goof, its nice to know you like my character.

i have decided to make dympie a history piece by piece so that i can really get to understand her and get into her character.

Piece #1: Dympie’s childhood

Dympies childhood was lived in the shadow of the parents. they were old fashioned, ruling over her with an iron fist. they made every desision reguarding their daughter, from schools she attended, to the clothes she wore, to what she had in her sandwich. because of this she grew to asossiate power over others as a sign of strength. she was an only child so had no-one to share the burden with. her parents taught her how to look down on others, how to contradict them and make them and their ideas feel worthless, because that was how they treated her. she learnt by example. because of this she didn’t have many friends. she treated her friends the way her parents treated her and as such, chased many of them away. so when she finds a friend she holds on to them as tightly as possible to avoid losing them, not understanding that this is the very reason that they leave her.

we have done well so far with the preparation. we are working through the first act, blocking it out piece by piece. scott knows what he wants and has been working on the characters as well as the manipulation of the actors through the set. the various characters are being developed and are becoming real.

my congratulations to everyone or their progress so far. don’t stop!

dympie’s history

in order to develop the character of Dympie, i have started to make up a history for her. she is self-conscious and controlling, needeing everything to be perfect.

after looking at the character of dympie, i believe that she is controling of those around her because when she was growing up, her parents ran the household with an iron fist, leaving her with no say in what happened. as an adult, she craves the power that she never had as a child, leading her to be controlling of everyone else and rigid in her ideas and desisions because she percieves changing her mind or agreeing with someone else to be a sign of weakness.

although she will copy other people’s ideas and pass them off as her own, dympie never admits it. she will copy paula’s make up and clothing but feels the need to hide it and does so by sneering at and insulting paula to cover her actions.
